I took a frame from a Will Eisner Spirit comic, ‘Blood Of The Earth’ and enlarged it onto a sheet of MDF. MDF is easy to cut and has a smooth finish to print from. So it makes a great printing block, the only problem is the dust from cutting it is horrible.

First I printed off the image in white so that I could fill in some of the larger areas with acrylic.

Then I laid it back on the printing block, always a bit nerve wracking in case the registration is off.

But in the end I think my kitchen sink printing press worked OK.
The original artwork was sold by Sothebys for $53,639 on 7 March 2015. There is a scan below. Click on it to see it full size. Eisner’s drawing is fantastic.

I gave the print to my friend Iain Croll and his husband to be Andrew Lambert as a wedding present. I wonder if they ever got round to hanging it?

They did.
