On the recommendation of our neighbours, we travelled to the Italian coastal town of Vico Equense which located on top of cliffs overlooking the bay of Naples on Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula. We stayed at the Hotel Aequa which had an amazing pool which I painted in my sketchbook. I find it the best way of switching off my mind and relaxing on holiday.
I thought it was great fun that the older Italian men floated in the pool with their cocktail glasses and rubber floats. Very cool, at ease and relaxed in a way that no Englishman ever achieves. La Dolce Vita.
The beaches were a completely new experience for us, with a sea of umbrellas which you hired. I think we preferred the pool.
