I wanted to make a platform bed to sit in the roof space of my daughters bedroom. The ceiling slope follows the profile of the valley roof, so there is just room to put a platform in. I also wanted to experiment with CNC router cut plywood and cantilevered wall supports.

When I was adding a new storey to my house, I was required by the council to keep my chimneys, as we are in a conservation area. Even though there are no chimney breasts in the house now. So, I thought the least I could do was cheer up the roof scape on the street with some colourful chimneys. Inspired by Ettore Sottsass’s Totem range of sculptures, I wanted to make some pop chimney pots.

Both my daughters have been very lucky to go to St Judes Primary School which is just one street away from my house. When the school announced they were looking to redesign their school logo, I think we all felt I should offer to help.

On 23rd July 2016 my dear friend Alex Milton was the lucky man who married the wonderful Suzanne Martin. Alex very kindly asked me to be his best man. I had used the Newspaper club to print a pamphlet for my wedding, and so felt I should create a similar experience for Alex as part of my best man’s speech. The guests hopefully could also keep it as a little momento of the day. Alex is the proud owner of an E-type, so it seemed only fair to play on that.

Couldn’t resist wrapping some design books for my colleagues in a Harry Potter style. Had fun mixing a vintage royal mail stamp with Hogwarts. Owl post!
I took a frame from a Will Eisner Spirit comic, ‘Blood Of The Earth’ and enlarged it onto a sheet of MDF. MDF is easy to cut and has a smooth finish to print from. So it makes a great printing block, the only problem is the dust from cutting it is horrible.
