Barclays Omake

Concept for Barclays rewards intro screen

This is a concept idea for making banking more engaging. I am using the idea of a points rewards system to reflect the users engagement with Barclays products and services. It may be possible to then associate these omake with a financial reward. Omake is japanese for  extra, bonus, discount and I am using it as a metaphor instead of the usual wallet metaphor which is always associated with digital payments. A wallet places the emphasis on the storage of rewards, just abstractly visualising the rewards focuses the user on the benefits. It is an experiment with a  game like display that may make the user more engaged? I have chosen a simple metaphor of filling a board/grid with coloured squares representing the rewards (omake) the user has earned and achieved. I hope this makes it clear to the user that the bank is recognising their achievements by rewarding the user when they have accomplished something. It has to be integrated with all the bank site, rather than trying to build a hub that the user is pointed to.

Design a way to show the user their achievement and status, and engagement with online banking. A simple  visual representation to motivate  the user to be more involved and achieve a higher level. The user feels they have gained as a result of their actions.

Barclays BMB on ipad has a chart view of transactions this lets the user easily visualise their money. Is it possible to combine People like you and Money tools and provide prompts to the user so that omake can be earned, when the user interacts with the relevant data?

My Preferences
design for Preference screen

Customer Preference Centre is a single repository for contact preference settings. It allows the user to simply set up their preferences. To incentivise the user to change some of their settings and preferences they may be awarded omake.

Manage Statements
Design for managing statements

Manage Statements BMB allows the user to change their statement from paper in the post to online and stored in cloud it. As it will allow the company to save on postage  you could make the reward (omake) have a financial aspect for the customer.

Budget

Budgeting allows the user to control their money and they should be rewarded for achieving their goals and targets. There is a Track Budgets feature in the current Money Tools product. Also regular financial deposits and withdrawals as part of a budget form the basis of lots of reward based accounts. (Lloyds Club). Budgeting can drive both long term activities such as investments and short term savings goals, discounts and offers. Rewards could provide the nudge to increase engagement.

Goals
Design for a goals screen

Goals give the user the most common gaming dynamic achievement when they have accomplished something. These should be rewarded with omake. Achievements work best when they can be associated with points, new levels, badges. These could be redeemed with third party vendors. Connecting rewards (omake) with Smart Spend, or even My Products in secure (Features Store).

Features store
Design for Features Store including omake panel

BMB Tablet Features Store appears to be a lightweight version of the desktop Features Store. If Features Store can just become the product  and marketing pages in secure then it may make it easier for the user to understand. Within Features Store we currently promote Packs which through bundling products or discounts offer the user better value. Does this value transfer/translate to omake?
